WHERE ARE AMERICANS’ HEARTS?

by Gary Stevens

The Prophet Isaiah preached against idolatry and advocated repentance for man's sins

(Oct. 2, 2011) — Last week my wife went shopping. There were some items on sale at JC Penney, so with a limited budget in these Obamanomic times, she purchased several items. Coming home and trying on some of the clothes in preparing for cooler weather, one top did not fit well (too big), so she got out the receipt to take it back for an exchange or refund. To her surprise, one pair of jeans was not charged on the receipt. At the store she mentioned that she needed to exchange the top or get a refund and that the previous cashier inadvertently did not charge her for a pair of jeans.  My wife wanted to pay for the jeans since they fit really nicely but were not charged on the receipt. The young woman at the register was AMAZED. She could not conceive of anyone coming back because of an error in the customer’s favor. She loudly said, “I’ve worked here for over five years and this never happens. To my wife’s surprise she said, “Really?”

It was almost as if the display of integrity was so rare that it shocks people. For many, it is rare NOT to display integrity in every facet of life. Not because we are so good or holier-than- thou, but the Scriptures point out that moral quality of life for all that believe the Holy Bible. That includes when nobody is looking. You see, your reputation is what everybody sees about you. Integrity is what you know (and God knows) about yourself behind the scenes.

The title to this article is very intentional. It is not meant to be demeaning or shame-based. It states an actual need, the purpose of which is to encourage “humble boldness “  for the rising up of those who say in public office they stand for truth, ethics, a binding Constitution, and  perhaps their own personal  Biblical-based faith. If that is the case, where is the action on those convictions?  We can name several talk show hosts who proclaim their personal faith as God-fearing and Bible-believing. There are Congressional members who publicly do profess devotion to God, family, and country. Some have even written books pointing out the value of resting on the Sabbath or family priorities and worshiping together.

A prophet long ago named Isaiah addressing people at that time said, “You worship me (God) with your lips but your heart is far from me.”  In our day, those who name values and principles to live by but say NOTHING of the governmental crimes happening in their knowledge and under their responsibility are living with a self-grasping, incoherent understanding of real faith.  For those in public service or public discourse via  a media platform, I say, DO NOT pretend, portend, or intend to deceive the viewers of your program and/or the voters of your district that you care about America. Your vacuous words fall to the ground. The substance of your complicity to an illegal occupant of this Republic as POTUS is deficient of any hint of integrity.  It is equal to smelling the flesh burning in chimneys two blocks from your neighborhood in Auschwitz and going about your day like everything is just fine. You as politicians, broadcasters, directors, staff for CONgress  members, etc. care about one thing: YOU. Standing for what is right is too inconvenient for your aspirations. To that, I say, your integrity is nil. Your view of God is dim, your view of other people’s opinion is too large and the disorder of your heart’s priority is in need of repair.

Will ONE Congress member stand? Congressman Wilson did during a Joint House Soetero speech calling out, “You lie” (it turns out he was right, by the way). That wasn’t enough. ALL CONGRESS knows Barry Soetero is illegally sitting as putative POTUS. The compiled overwhelming evidence of fraud, forgery, deceit, consistent lying (nearly every teleprompter appearance) and stacking the positions of power with known haters of the American way of life is negligence to ignore.  Is there ONE who has integrity?

One stone of truth in the slingshot of righteousness will fell the giant of deceit.
