Editor’s Note: The Post & Email has thousands of readers.  If every reader wrote one email and sent it to all 535 members of Congress, that would boost each state’s tally considerably.  Members of the House of Representatives are listed at this link; U.S. Senators are here.  You can also enlist your relatives, friends and neighbors to send an email or make a phone call.

  1. Governor of Fl acknowledged receipt of my email requesting eligibity documentation for presidential candidates. See what happens. I have tried for two years to get Congressman Cliff Sterns to act on Obama eligibity. Got a letter prior to Sterns last reelection assuring me Obama was eligible. I let Sterns know where his information was incorrect and invited him to try again. Perseverance is my strong point.

  2. Additionally, I email all 140 of my state Senators and Reps with concerns. I just sent them one asking them to introduce legislation requiring presidential candidates to prove eligibility or not be on the ballot. One of them told me the deadline for introducing new legislation was last Monday. (yes, I checked, and she was being honest), but I had no idea such a rule existed.

Anyway, sorry, I got off on a tangent…

    1. The deadline for 2012 has already passed? Why am I not surprised?

Try asking them what the current rules/laws are in determining eligibility, and how they carry them out. Ask for the paperwork your state requires to be filed out by a candidate to get on the ballot and how it is determined that the candidate is being truthful.

Probably won’t do any good, but if you can put them on the spot on this issue, it’s worth the time.

Mrs. Rondeau replies: I believe she was referring to the deadline for introducing bills in her particular state legislature. State legislatures are in session generally only from January through April each year. Currently there are ten states which have some form of a presidential eligibility bill introduced this session.

  3. Gracie, you haven’t counted mine yet…I’m faxing 5 different letters to every Republican member of Congress and Senate, over 100 members have gotten them so far and I’ll continue until they all receive them…then I’ll fax them to Governors, Lt Governors, Attorneys General, Secretaries of State, etc. Tons of contact info. including fax numbers is available at http://www.stamppeeve.com under the link for “Presidential Eligibility”, scroll down the page and it’s posted after the open letters (feel free to use the letters too).
