DID YOU MISS US????
by Sharon Rondeau
(Oct. 7, 2010) — The Post & Email is up and running again. We plan on returning to publishing all of our outstanding editorials, news items and commentary right away.
The editor’s mailbox is editor@thepostemail.com.
We have lost four days, so there will be much catching up to do. A lot has happened in the Lakin case and many others. More interviews and reports are forthcoming. There will be an excellent editorial about state laws and presidential eligibility requirements shortly as well as news from Monroe County, TN, the seat of government corruption!
I have discovered that this site is neither simple nor easy to maintain. It has a very complicated theme that makes it difficult to move and archive. Many thanks to Bob, Niraj Kumar, and Wayne for all the work they did to restore The Post & Email as well as to those who volunteered to help us.
The problem was that for about six months, we were paying approximately $400/month for website hosting, which was unsustainable. We moved the site in July to a less-expensive hosting package starting at $192/month, but after a three-month trial period, it was to go up to $252/month. Because of insufficient bandwidth from the start of which I was unaware, we went down within two weeks. Then the host planned to charge us additional for the extra bandwidth, nickling and diming us up to $272 after the trial period after having billed us more than $700 to install Facebook, Twitter, and printer-friendly icons (this included moving the site, which obviously was not easy and the cost of which was justified). However, it became obvious that the new plan also was not going to be adequate or sustainable as our readership grew.
There is such a thing as earning and living, and there is such a thing as bilking your customer, and I had been an established customer. Sheesh!
Much as I dislike asking, we will need your support more than ever due to the unanticipated expenses of moving and having to hire two teams of people to bring the site online again. If you have not signed up for our Sunday editor’s note or monthly subscription donation, this would be a great time. The subscription and Donation buttons are working, and our mailing address is:
The Post & Email, Inc.
P.O. Box 302
Stafford Springs, CT 06076
If anyone would like to advertise a business or service, our rates are the lowest anywhere.
We have therefore moved to a hosting package which is affordable, which we anticipate will meet the needs of our growing organization, and provide for expansion of the newspaper with the news you want to read and write about.
This is your newspaper. It doesn’t belong to me; it belongs to you, the readers. The hosting package we have purchased is for five years, so we hope to become the best web-based newspaper during that time.
Thanks to all of you who contacted me during the downtime and offered your services. I appreciate it so very much.
I missed all of you…now let’s get on with reporting the news that no one else will!
Absence makes the heart grow fonder! ;)

Mrs. Rondeau replies: Well, that’s a positive outcome, not that I’d want to repeat the recent scenario anytime soon!
After a large sigh of relief, Yes ! We missed you, Sharon.
Was this absence just to remind us what it’s like to be without thepostemail.com?

Mrs. Rondeau replies: Well, I would rather have done without it, but if absence makes the heart grow fonder, so be it!
Hi,
good the page is back =)
Glad to have you back Sharon!
Can’t wait to read all the latest and get caught up.

Mrs. Rondeau replies: I feel as if I’ll never get caught up…this will take a while, but we’ll get there.
