POLICE RESPONDING WEARING BODY ARMOR

A Twitter user reported that after a van hit the pedestrians, “3 men carrying knives jump out and then attack people.”
Gunfire has also been reported by eyewitnesses.
Reporters are saying that as of 6:22 EDT, local police have reported a second incident at Borough Market, also in London.
Locals tweeted praise for the response time of the London police and other first-responders.
Multiple ambulances are seen leaving the London Bridge scene, which is a busy area with restaurants, bars, and shops. The subway, or “tube,” has been shut down.
Police are said to be donning body armor and carrying shields as well as firearms.
The BBC reported that witnesses saw people being stabbed.
Update, 6:48 p.m. EDT: The UK Metro Police tweeted that they are responding to a third reported incident “in the Vauxhall area.”
The Daily Mail has reported that as many as 20 people were victims of the van attack on London Bridge. Three suspects said to be at large are described by the outlet as “of Mediterranean origin.”
Update, 8:15 p.m. EDT: The London Metropolitan Police have reported that the Vauxhall incident is unrelated to the other two.
