Lt. William M. Calley was court-martialed and convicted in 1971 of ordering the murder of 22 Vietnamese civilians. He was sentenced to life in prison at Ft. Leavenworth but granted clemency by President Nixon, beginning with a Writ of Habeas Corpus. Various individuals in The Post & Email’s readership have sent such a Writ to Walter Fitzpatrick at the Monroe County jail, but not one of them has reached him.
