(Jan. 27, 2025) — In an effort to better showcase the work of its growing number of contributing writers and distinguish it from other types of writing, The Post & Email has updated its article categories appearing at the top of its home page.

The most notable change is the addition of a “Columnists” category for those wishing to search for articles by an author’s name.

We have also eliminated some article labels while adding others to better define the type of article posted. This change applies primarily to our “Editorial” column, which going forward will contain only opinion written by The Post & Email‘s editor or associates in the absence of a formal “editorial board.”

As in the past, “straight news” reports will be placed in the “National” category unless they cover world news, in which case that category label will be assigned.

Pieces expressing a particular viewpoint, or “Op-Eds,” consisting of submissions from either citizen writers or seasoned columnists, are now labeled “Opinion-Editorial.”

Many articles will fall into more than one category. For example, Paul Driessen, whose articles we have published over many years, mainly submits columns on environmental and energy issues and also contain opinion. Accordingly, he is a columnist whose name appears in the drop-down box under “Columnists” at the top left, and his articles are labeled “Opinion-Editorial.”

Because of the volume of articles published over our 15+-year history, we are unable to retroactively apply the recent updates to articles published prior to January 1 of this year.

The Post & Email wishes to thank its volunteer website “tech” for the time and effort dedicated to lending the site its new look and feel.
