For many years TV adds and DC tobacco lobby promoted smoking cigarettes as “refreshing” (Kools) and manly-independent (Marlboros), et al. Yesterday’s cancerous cigarette-nonsense is now replaced with today’s endless drug adds that promote “the feel good gamble” (my words), wherein, the intended and possible good side affect of ingesting a new drug is favorably amplified and marketed, while the many other possible natural side affects, including death, are downplayed.
Think of this: the primate-to-human body has been evolving for some millions of years. Then, a new drug, never heard of or known by mankind before today, is suddenly incorporated into your natural bloodstream. How your human nature will then decide to react (i.e., either allowing the marketed side affect to prevail or allowing the injurious side effect(s) to prevail instead, including death) is what I call “the feel good gamble” of absorbing evolutionary-foreign lab-assembled-chemical-compounds to satisfy Big Pharma’s profit-motive.
