(Jun. 23, 2023) — Late Thursday evening, Citizen Free Press tweeted a video of comedian Shawn Farash, aka CaptainDeplorable45, placing a fictitious phone call to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA30), who on Wednesday was censured by a majority of the U.S. House of Representatives for lying about the evidence “in plain sight” of which he claimed to have knowledge showing that then-Pres. Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign “colluded” with the Russian government.
Schiff’s claims were proven false by the 2019 Mueller Report, which found no evidence of said “collusion,” and Special Counsel John Durham’s report released last month which faulted the FBI for opening its investigation into the Trump campaign for lack of predicate.
While the call was made by Farash against the backdrop of a Betsy Ross flag, the voice is arguably a convincing doppelgänger of the 45th president’s. Not only is Farash’s vocal imitation of Trump convincing, but also the mannerisms and breaths one often observes when Trump himself is speaking.
Farash, whose own Twitter account was shuttered sometime in 2022, maintains a website at CaptainDeplorable45.com, where the video and others are posted as well as podcasts and a store sporting his own brand of Trump memorabilia and novelty items.
On his “Podcast” page Farash indicates he has been in business for approximately one year. In a play on Trump’s signature campaign slogan, Farash boasts he is “making comedy great again.”
