NON-VOTES LEND TACIT APPROVAL TO WINNERS

(Nov. 8, 2014) — Roving Reporter: “Well, well, it seems that our Mr. de facto president let the cat slip of the bag during his press conference on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. He said he ‘heard’ the two-thirds that didn’t vote, or did he? Was he just pretending? Did Obama tell a fib? Or, just maybe, he really doesn’t understand how voting works, at least here in America, and to learn more, let’s go to our State University to learn more.”

Professor Flint: “We on? Which camera do I look into? Don’t look ‘into’? The one with the light? We’re live, now? Relax?

“Hello, my name is Professor Flint, and you’re watching ‘Television College: Class 301: The Philosophical Reality of the Non-Vote.’ We are preempting the ‘Roving Reporter Report’ which will directly follow this show, at least in the time allotted.

“Yesterday I’m sure you all heard the de facto president’s remark about ‘hearing’ from those who didn’t vote. Well, he heard alright, but he wasn’t listening or wasn’t paying attention. What I’m about to instruct you on was already covered by Benjamin Franklin years ago, but it wasn‘t filmed, so I’ll just have to be Ben’s substitute.

“It’ll be a lot easier if you would look at a vote as money. Money, you know, has no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’: it just is. Ever see the movie ‘The Quiet Man’? At the end, John Wayne’s character throws a wad of money into a fire and everyone is happy. Well, that may be good for Hollywood, but why couldn’t that money have been donated to an orphanage, or be used to fix the bridge south of town? Or mend the roof of the widow Lela’s cottage?

“Money can be used for a transaction, just as a vote can be cast. Money can be saved, it’s true, but while that money is being ‘saved,’ it is, nevertheless, being used: it’s being saved, not spent. Some money that is saved collects interest; some does not.

“At the dog track, money placed on dog #4 to show is ‘saved’ until the race is over, and then it either collects interest or it does not.

“A vote is either actively and purposefully spent, or it is spent without active participation. In a way, the vote that hasn’t been cast is a ‘saved’ vote, and when the results are determined (dog finishes race), that’s when the vote counts: a vote not cast automatically has been cast for the winner because (now’s the time to pay attention): a ‘saved’ vote could’ve been used to vote against the winner. Of course, if it was used, wouldn’t have been ‘saved’ after all, would it?

“No, obviously not. But it goes even deeper. If a person is determined to be eligible to vote, but never registered, that person, philosophically speaking, still voted because their vote is (automatically) a ‘saved’ vote and, as we’ve just learned, a ‘saved’ vote is a vote for whoever wins.

“And to those who say ‘It doesn’t affect me,’ guess what? It does.

“I can explain it to you but I can’t comprehend it for you. Think about it:  that’s why the Founding Fathers wanted to limit the voting roll to people who were educated property owners. But those requirements were cut down to the ability to read and write which, in turn, were cut down to just about nothing, which is what we have today.

“Nevertheless, every one of those who didn’t register to vote but could’ve, and every one who was registered but didn’t, actually, philosophically speaking, physically cast a vote for whoever won.

“And that’s just the way it is. Irrefutable: just like money: even when it’s not being used it’s being used.

“So our de facto president ought to read a little bit more about his adoptive country so he doesn’t continually put his foot in his mouth. So it comes down to this: the two-thirds who didn’t vote actually did vote against Obama, how about them apples?

“Thank you for watching. This is Professor Flint saying ‘Goodbye.’

“How’d that go? Did I make any sense? Do you think anyone understood it?”

Roving Reporter: “Well done, Professor. And, you know, it makes perfect sense, about that ‘saved’ vote idea going automatically to whoever wins. I like it. That old Ben was sure one smart cookie.

“I see our time is up. Remember to stay safe by being armed and continue to support your 2nd Amendment. Goodnight.”
