NBC NEWS PRODUCER:  CANCELED, BUT NEW ARRANGEMENTS MADE

by Sharon Rondeau

(Oct. 2, 2016) — Amid much speculation as to what an anticipated Wikileaks release of documents might contain, Fox News, via Heat Street, has reported that the announcement has been canceled.

Both outlets cited NBC News as their source.

It appears that on Friday, Jesse Rodriguez of NBC News released a tweet stating that Assange’s announcement “has been cancelled, per @wikileaks,” although that tweet did not appear with his earlier one as to the October 4 Wikileaks announcement.

Earlier on Twitter, a “Jason Alan Murdock” posted that Assange would not make his announcement from the balcony of the Ecuadorian Embassy, where he has been living for the past five years, but by video link from the commemoration of Wikileaks’ tenth anniversary in Berlin.

The Post & Email was not able to find any announcement on the Wikileaks website.

In late August, Assange had said he had “thousands” of emails involving Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in addition to those Wikileaks already released beginning in March of this year.

A later tweet by Rodriguez states that “According to @wikileaks, Julian Assange will appear via video link at Berlin press conference on Tuesday AM.”

As of 4:09 p.m. EDT, the Fox News cancellation announcement remains at the top of the Wikileaks Twitter feed.
