What Role, If Any, Did Obama Play in Fast & Furious?

(Jun. 21, 2012) — The White House Insider, many of whose predictions about the Obama regime have materialized, claims that Obama now “owns Fast & Furious” following Obama’s invocation of “executive privilege” to keep sealed thousands of pages of documentation subpoenaed by the U.S. House Oversight & Government Reform Committee regarding the gunwalking scheme.  In order to avoid revealing the documents, Holder reportedly asked Obama to utilize the maneuver prior to the committee’s meeting and vote on Wednesday.

After hours of hearings and proposed amendments to the resolution, late in the afternoon, the committee voted along party lines to designate putative Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over the documents subpoenaed last fall.

In regard to “executive privilege,” Judge Andrew Napolitano, Fox News senior judicial analyst and author, stated, “The only bases for the invocation of the privilege are the need to protect secret deliberations and communications intended ultimately for the President that pertain to (a) military, or (b) diplomatic, or (c) sensitive national security matters. Just because two or more people in the White House discussed a matter or reviewed documents does not clothe their discussion or their document review with executive privilege.”

Holder issued a statement following the committee vote claiming that his department “has made unprecedented accommodations to respond to information requests by Chairman Issa about misguided law enforcement tactics that began in the previous administration and allowed illegal guns to be taken into Mexico.   Holder has said that he cannot turn over certain documents because they involve “ongoing law enforcement investigations, legally-protected grand jury material and other sensitive information whose disclosure would endanger the American people or our agents investigating open cases.”  He called the committee deliberations “political theater.”

Holder has also refused to prosecute “his people” for voter intimidation despite a default judgment against them, causing at least two Justice Department employees to resign.

In an interview with Ulsterman prior to the contempt vote, “WHI” stated that Obama’s claim of executive privilege means that Obama “owns Fast & Furious now.”

WHI stated that Eric Holder lied when he compared Fast & Furious to a similar program conducted under the Bush presidency called “Wide Receiver.”  WHI claims that Wide Receiver “was much smaller and had the full cooperation of the Mexican authorities.”  On May 9, 2011, he had predicted, “Eric Holder’s gonna fall,” although the link to the referenced article now produces an error message.  It has been reported that Mexico were not aware of Fast & Furious.

Holder has tried to negate email references to Fast & Furious among “his people” at the Department of Justice and ATF.

Holder has been perceived by some to be an opponent of personal gun ownership and the Second Amendment in general.  Earlier this year, Breitbart.com released a video from 1995 of Holder stating that young people should be “brainwashed” into rejecting gun possession.  “We need to change the way that people think about guns, especially young people” a black-haired Holder had said.  Holder had asked the media to “devote time and space” advertising time to launch a campaign so that young people “would be grabbed by these ads.”  He suggested that “people with credibility” such as Marion Barry, who was arrested, tried and convicted on drug charges, spending six months in federal prison, become involved in the anti-gun campaign.  Jesse Jackson, who later admitted to an extramarital affair and illegitimate child while he provided “counseling” to Bill Clinton during the 1990s, was also mentioned as a possible participant.

Barry was elected to serve as a councilmember for Ward 8 in Washington, DC, following his incarceration after previously serving as the District’s mayor. Barry is now known as “Ward 8’s Commander in Chief.”

The late Alan Stang used to refer to Washington, DC as the “district of criminals.”

According to Lou Dobbs in February 2009, Holder wanted to “help out the government of Mexico by crushing your Second Amendment rights.”  Holder stated that there were “just a few gun-related changes” that he and Obama wanted to make.  During yesterday’s committee hearings, Rep. Jason Chaffetz stated that on the same day on which a letter was sent to Congress denying that Holder or anyone in the Department of Justice had knowledge of Fast & Furious, Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer was in Mexico “advocating for gunwalking” with government officials there.

In 2011, a “Special Agent” for the ATF who described himself as a whistleblower stated that he has been suspended and intimidated for speaking out against Fast & Furious.  He stated at the 23:00 mark that he is being paid “approximately $150,000” to refrain from performing his duties.

Rep. Trey Gowdy asked why Obama had invoked executive privilege over the Justice Department documents, as Obama had maintained that he “had nothing to do with Fast & Furious.”

In April 2009, Holder had reportedly said that “the Second Amendment would not ‘stand in the way'” of the regime’s plans to stop gun trafficking to Mexico, but gun trafficking is exactly what occurred in Fast & Furious when legal gun sellers were told to sell guns to “middlemen from Mexican drug cartels.”  Prior to the installation of the Obama regime, Holder had submitted an Amicus Curiae brief in a lawsuit which challenged the ban on gun ownership in Washington, DC, advocating against the personal right to gun ownership.  Regarding our assisting Mexico in tracking illegal firearms movement between countries, at 24:32, ATF Special Agent Vincent Cefalu said “we facilitated the bad guys” and at 25:22, that rather than helping, “we did just the opposite.”

Commentator Rush Limbaugh stated on Wednesday that Obama is “trying to protect himself” in the fallout from Fast & Furious and that Obama actually “created” the gunrunning scheme.

Several sources have indicated that the Clintons do not support Obama’s re-election and that delegates were stolen from Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primary and caucus cycle.  The idea of a primary challenge by Hillary was floated last fall.

Edward Klein’s book The Amateur claims that Bill Clinton urged his wife to launch a primary challenge against Obama this year for the Democratic nomination because of Obama’s incompetence.  One well-known writer “senses the hand of Clinton” in recent revelations indicating that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, and posits that someone witnessing the occasion on which Bill Clinton urged his wife to challenge Obama this year gave the information to Klein.

Another writer sees possible “coded warnings” in Clinton’s public statements about Obama.

The White House Insider refers to “the Old Man” and that he had “made a push on some folks who in turn had a few meetings on the Hill and got this thing going again.”  WHI then mentions “another health setback” for the Old Man.  In September 2004, Bill Clinton underwent quadruple bypass surgery, and in February 2010 had two stents inserted because of a “clogged heart artery.”  Clinton has recently been critical of Democrats who have used Mitt Romney’s experience in the private sector to characterize him as unqualified for the presidency, although Clinton narrated an Obama campaign video stating that Romney might not have made the same decision as Obama regarding the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Last February, a writer for “Human Events” said:

Reporting here a few weeks ago, I indicated that President Barack Obama pretends to support the Second Amendment, but really is working behind the scenes with Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder’s Justice Department to introduce oppressive gun regulations, with or without Congress, and despite Constitutional restraints.

Well, you know what?

I was right on target.

The author went on to say that Fast & Furious was implemented by Holder to “enlist U.S. gun shop owners to illegally sell guns to known criminal traffickers directly, this way more guns could be tracked, and more criminals captured, so that the Justice Department could avail its anticipated success as a means to promote strict gun control laws, nationwide.”

Others appear to agree.  Executive Vice President of the NRA, Wayne LaPierre, opined that Obama has been abusing his power to eviscerate gun rights in America and has “spent his entire career proudly, publicly advancing the most radical anti-gun positions you can imagine.”  LaPierre’s assertion appears to be supported by Obama’s public voting record.  After Obama took office, gun sales in the U.S. rose a reported 8.9%.

Last fall, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was not able to explain Holder’s false testimony regarding Fast & Furious, but today, when Carney claimed that Obama’s executive privilege was based on “principle,” the White House press corps laughed.

The parents of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry believe that Obama and Holder are hiding something.

Thirteen months ago, it was reported that Obama had promised Jim and Sarah Brady that “he was working” on gun control through executive orders and “bypassing Congress.”

A treason complaint against Obama for Fast & Furious was filed by a retired military officer but never answered.

Just before the 2008 election, Obama said, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”

Was it all part of the plan?  What did Holder and Obama know, and when did they know it?

Could Fast & Furious be shades of Watergate?
