Dear Editor,
What irks me about Australia Day trash-talking and Australia’s basic wage (which the US does not really have) snide sniping recent American-Australian “patriotic polygamist” goofball-like Mason Cox is not so much his insufferably pompous ignorance about Australia, but that he plays Aussie Rules Footy for my beloved Collingwood Magpies, and that after many decades of frequent business travel back and forth to the US, I came to love most things American and most Americans, but not Australia Day-basher-Cox!
This Aussie bloke has never approved of “patriotic polygamy”: dual citizenship (a rare mistake by great former PM John Howard, whose gun control reforms America should adopt); however, if it must be so, then let it be with the Free World’s greatest protector: America. And, as I celebrate the 4th of July 2022 here in Melbourne, I will be saying to American friends present that not only am I not aware of Cox’s apology for not accepting Australian citizenship on and trash-talking Australia Day 2022, but I’m really irked at Cox’s not making further amends by not waiting (unless there was a really good reason) until Australia Day 2023 for the great honour and privilege of becoming an Australian citizen (even if committing “patriotic polygamy”)!
