(Aug. 26, 2021) — At approximately 5:34 p.m. EDT during remarks following two terrorist attacks in Kabul, Afghanistan as U.S. troops attempted to evacuate Americans and Afghanis among the Taliban takeover of the city, Joe Biden said, “The first person I was instructed to call on is Kelly O’Donnell of ABC News.”

Biden spoke particularly slowly on Thursday.

His remark was observed by former Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis and Trump’s first press secretary, Sean Spicer.

In response to a reporter’s question, Biden cast doubt on “getting everybody out” of Afghanistan before the Taliban’s August 31 deadline.

At 5:48, he said he would take “one more question” followed by, “Let me take one more question from the most interesting guy in the room” indicating Peter Doocy of Fox News.

While responding, Biden asked Doocy if his characterization of Trump’s agreement with the Taliban to withdraw U.S. troops by May 1 were accurate. He then dropped his head over the lectern for a few moments.
