MAKING THE WORLD “A BETTER PLACE”
(Jul. 8, 2020) — “You don’t have to like me, but you will respect me.” – Everyone who doesn’t care what people think about them.
Love, joy, and happiness are some of the things in life that everybody wants but everybody doesn’t always get. Among those things, there is one major thing that would make the world a better place if people showed it to one another. Can you guess what that “thing” is? If you guessed respect, then you guessed correct.
Respect is one thing that is received when it is given but it is also something that people pick and choose to give to people based on various things like race, religion, gender,, etc. But the one thing that demands and commands respect from everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, etc, is your title… in other words, your career.
So what is it about a person’s career that makes people want to be on their best behavior? Is it the amount of money they make? Maybe it is the amount of education it took for them to achieve success in their career?
Well, the amount of education or the amount of money a person makes couldn’t be it because there are six-figure positions that don’t require a degree. So, if it’s not financial status or education, then what exactly is it?
One of the things that makes people respect certain careers over other careers is a selfless factor. Some of the most respected careers in the world are careers that focus on the greater good of society as a whole, rather than individuals.
Now, just because these careers are well-respected, that doesn’t always mean that those positions are high-paying jobs. So what does that mean, exactly?
That means that with some of these prestigious positions, you truly have to have a passion for that career field because the biggest benefit isn’t always the paycheck but more so the impact your career makes on the world. But, the majority of the time, these impactful positions do come with an impactful paycheck!
Take a look at some of the world’s most prestigious positions that are not only highly-regarded by society but they’re also some of the most rewarding positions that change the lives of people all over the world.
According to reference.com, the most prestigious and most respected position in the US is a doctor. Physicians rank number one of several polls and surveys as being the most respected position in the world. Why is that? Because they use their extensive knowledge of medicine to take the pain and suffering away from patients, improving their quality of life; there are lots of people who even look at doctors as forms of healers.
Doctors have abilities to diagnose diseases, treat or cure certain diseases, and give people the one thing that was once hard to come by… a long life. Doctors come in may specialties too. If you have back problems you can see a chiropractor; if you have heart issues, you can see a cardiologist. The world needs more doctors because people will always need medical care.
If you are thinking of pursuing a career in medicine, sites like practicematch.com have specialty positions in family medicine, emergency medicine, radiology, and tons of other specialties. If you want to change people’s lives for the better, this is the path you want to take.
US Armed Forces
The US Armed Forces consist of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. These branches of the US Armed Forces have one purpose only and that is to serve and protect the country from enemies outside and within the US.
Again, this is a career that men and women have that are highly regarded because they put their lives on the line every day to make sure that everyone in the country is safe. It takes a special kind of individual to have that kind of selflessness… Why else do you think that when people see men and women in uniform, they make a point to stop and say, “Thank you for your service.”
This same level of high regard can also be said for the UK military as well. Just like the US, the UK military is not only prestigious but it also holds some of the highest-paid positions in the world.
Teachers have one of the hardest yet most highly respected careers in the world. Why is that? Because they are the people who help shape the world into well-learned individuals. Kids are in school the majority of the day and it is what they learn in school that helps advance them to the next grade.
A student’s advancement or failure to the next grade has a lot to do with the student’s desire to learn but ultimately, it’s a huge reflection of the teacher’s efforts to help that student succeed.
As a teacher, it’s easy to teach students who want to learn… that’s the easy part. The part of teaching that’s the most rewarding and fulfilling to teachers is when they see a troubled student take the lessons they taught them in class and see them excel. Teachers want to see success with all their students… the good ones and even their “trouble students.”
But the whole purpose of a teacher is to teach and when they can teach students various lessons and see those lightbulbs turn on in their students’ heads, those are the moments teachers live for. It tells them that their students learned a concept you taught them.
