The Banner Truck Tour of Civic Duty:
The “Banner Truck” is a symbol that can’t be mistaken. When it rolls into town it is highly visible. It indicates that the town is about to be visited by a coalition of civic activists that carry a strong message. While the specifics of their mission may vary from region to region the overall message is dissatisfaction with government.
A Grassroots Coalition of civic activists are in the process of a statewide tour. The mission is to create awareness of the LAWLESS government in Albany that has put the people’s wellbeing and prosperity in jeopardy. “It seems the elected officials have found they are untouchable and are above the law. They are passing legislation with total disregard for any rules or concern for the people of New York” is a statement from one of the tour organizers.
The coalition is made up of many tens of thousands of New Yorkers from every corner of the state. While their issues with the current lawmakers vary across a broad spectrum the coalition is united against most incumbents. “The current Legislators have been in office way to long. They have lost touch with reality. The corruption is rampant and most of them think our money is their piggy bank. They pass laws for special interest with absolutely no regard for the welfare of the majority.”
The pinnacle of the mission is FULL Repeal of the Safe Act, stopping common core education, ending the tax-free zone initiative, reinstating the Moreland Commission, halting the use of unfunded mandates. Second is a host of other wrongful mischief Albany has been up to in recent years.
A main focus of the coalition organizers is a document called “A Pledge to the People”. This is a document that can be custom tailored for each candidate for office. The object is to support candidates that make a written pledge and boycott those that don’t. The coalition has a suggested pledge with the cornerstone being a pledge to introduce, sponsor and support legislation that reinstates the people’s right of referendum. “Our efforts cut across party lines. All candidates should be willing to Pledge to the People and resist political party self-interests. There is no logical reason why anyone should object to this initiative”.
This is the third week of the statewide tour. So far 34 towns and cities have been visited by the banner truck rallies. This week the tour is focused on downstate and Long Island. Below is the current schedule release:
