WHY HAVE YOU DESERTED US?

Dear Editor:  The following letter was sent by email to Lt. Col. Robert Manning, the Public Affairs Officer for the Lt. Col. Lakin court-martial matter.

My Dear Colonel Manning,

It is with great sadness I see an era of freedom and liberty disappear from the face of this earth.  Highlighted by the outrageous treatment of Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Casey, General Horst and Colonel Lind, have all acted in concert, in my mind, to collectively destroy the longstanding tradition of the US Army to stand for the right American values and principles.  In my view, Colonel, the US Army has failed in its basic responsibilities to the American citizens, the Constitution and to stand for what any reasonable person would consider the administration of a fair sense of justice.

Colonel, do you for one minute believe the American people do not understand what has happened here?  Do you honestly believe what has transpired in this series of illegal and unconstitutional events; subversive acts of giving aid and comfort to a person the greater percentage of Americas consider to be an illegal usurper, will be permitted to stand? Those who are behind this strategy have underestimated the will of the American people in this matter,  This will not go away!

It is one thing for an elected body to become corrupt…but an organization for which its sole purpose is to defend the people of this nation? How can a military organization, steeped in so many years of faithful service and tradition succumb to such wanton corruption?

Do you not find this situation to be a gross contradiction of the mission of the US Army?

How can you and any officers reconcile your current behavior and your dedication to defend the Constitution?

Your oath, Colonel, just like the one taken by Col. Lakin, is to the Constitution, not to any individual or group.  So knowing the truth in this matter, please tell me how you, as a senior high-ranking military officer, can look yourself in the mirror?

Tell me, Colonel, what is the penalty for desertion as applied to an entire military organization?  Now this is just my opinion here, Colonel, but it appears to me that the US Army has deserted those for whom the Army was created to protect:  the people of this nation!

The following update was received later on December 20, 2010:

Dear Colonel Manning,

First, let me think you for your service to America.  It is times like these when our members in the military are really appreciated.  Also thank you for your quick and courteous response.

By now you may be aware I also sent General Horst an e-mail as well.  After a more careful and extensive review, I became quite concerned about the additional implications of the related issues.   I felt it necessary to express these concerns directly to General Horst.

Thank you again for being there during this difficult time for all patriots.  We are hoping cool heads prevail and reasonable accommodations may be found to resolve this situation.
