Captain John Paul Jones

Captain John Paul Jones was born in Scotland and became an officer in the Continental Navy during the American Revolution. He was the first to reach the rank of First Lieutenant in the newly-formed Navy authorized by Congress on 13 October 1775. He is known for his courage in taking the fight to the enemy and for his declaration of “I have not yet begun to fight!”
