NEWSPAPER HYPOTHESIZES “SURPRISE RESULTS” IN “RECOUNT” STATES

by Sharon Rondeau

(Nov. 28, 2016) — On Monday afternoon, while following the Twitter hashtag #PARecount, The Post & Email noted a tweet allegedly from the International Business Times (IBT) with the politically-charged title of, “If each of @DrJillStein‘s recounts have surprise results, @HillaryClinton will become POTUS http://buff.ly/2fX3m3B .”

Believing it to be a spoof, this writer clicked on the link and was surprised to find that it led to an article titled, “Can Hillary Clinton Still Win? Election Recount in Wisconsin, Michigan And Pennsylvania Could Cost Trump The White House.”

Referring to the “recount” efforts launched in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, the IBT article reported, in part, “Stein has vowed to push for recounts in each state ahead of the Dec. 13 deadline by which electoral college disputes must be settled, though Pennsylvania’s strict requirements could prove difficult to overcome. If voters send in the thousands of affidavits needed to demand a recount there and Clinton takes Trump’s Electoral College votes in each state, she will have 278 electoral votes to Trump’s 260 — just above the 270 threshold to win the presidency.”

A video at IBT of Stein declaring her recount filing in Wisconsin on Friday continues to replay once the reader lands on the site.

The report does not take into account the Pennsylvania statute dealing with requests for recounts and “contesting” an election, which Ren Jander, JD told The Post & Email on Monday can no longer occur because of expired deadlines.

On Monday morning, Ren Jender, JD, wrote a detailed blog post with multiple references to Pennsylvania Election Code, P.L. 1333, No. 320, of which it is stated in Section XIV, p. 166:

The Pennsylvania Department of State, which oversees elections, provided a calendar with election deadlines which states that November 15 was the date on which all “unofficial returns” were to be submitted from “every district throughout the Commonwealth.”

Further, November 17 was designated:

A campaign by Hillary Clinton supporters to convince Pennsylvanians to file affidavits is active on Twitter.
