“TRUTH WILL ALWAYS TRUMP LIES”

(Oct. 7, 2016) — Ever since the great Moose herds migrated from the lands of the tundra to the peach trees and back again, and ever since the American buffalo herds took the number of your fingers for the sun to set to count their passing, the Old Ones of our land told stories of Father Time as the embers glowed in the campfires around the camps.

“He is 10 quivers old,” while she is “many winters.” The sky turned dark as flocks of birds fleeing the approaching winter blocked out the sun as if it was a solar eclipse. A wicker basket dipped in a stream was the preferred fish-catching method from New York to Texas. It was the “Garden of Eden” with abundance to share.

There were sacred lands in America thousands of years before the introduction of the concept of a “National Park” system. The most obvious such land was ‘The Land of the Rotten Eggs’: Yellowstone National Park, also known as the “Land of the Trembling Earth.” Such lands were sacred hunting grounds: hunted and gathered-in but never lived-in.

The family unit consisted of a Squaw and a Brave; 30-60 family units was a group; while all the groups, added together, made up a ‘Nation.’ Some Nations had their own language, but all the American Indian Nations shared a common name for our planet: Mother.

Ownership of land was unheard of, for isn’t this God’s land, and not ours to do with what we want? Have you heard that some of our species abuse this trust: it’s called clear-cutting and strip-mining. We have been entrusted with the responsibility as the caretakers of the land that “The Great Spirit” – the “Good Lord” — gave us, for if not us, then who?

God was in charge at one time, until someone started to put words into the speech from “Our Great Father.” These blasphemies contend that torturing and murdering little children is the will of a vengeful, wrathful Supreme Being. We Indians, who have been on this land for many millennia, have never heard of such utter nonsense and we sincerely believe that such hatred can only spill forth from a demented soul.

The American Indian reveres his ancestors to the point of believing what our “Dearly Departed” embark upon us while we stare into the memorizing ebbing embers late at night, often times accompanied by a Shaman as our guide into the “other side of life.” They say to us we’ve been had, that the promise of the “Great White Father” wasn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. Even though the Treaties have been violated – not by us — but we steadfastly believe in the Constitution.

Mr. Trump believes in the Constitution and, as such, believes in the “American Way,” which is our way: we had equality of gender, age and sex long before you people did.

We cannot support a person who lets their warriors go to their deaths for no reason whatsoever. We cannot support a person who so cavalierly tosses aside the lives of her troops, as Hillary Clinton did during the night that our Ambassador Stevens was brutally tortured and murdered in Benghazi.

I am an American Indian Chief and I speak for many peoples, not just for American Indians, but also for all peoples who want Truth, Justice and the American Way. I say our forefathers would approve of Trump but not of Hillary: Truth will always trump lies.

There are fewer Moose and Buffalo these days; the migrating birds no long block out the sun and the fish are elusive. Old Man Winter continues to visit us and make it just as hard as ever to access fresh water, of which there is less with each revolution of Mother Earth around our nearest star. Fresh water is the Great Spirit’s gift to us: we should not squander gifts.

You need to always vote for the ability to tell time. Supporting Hillary means the ‘End of Time’ while voting for Trump will allow us to watch the embers glow from red to white, exposing the lies no matter who speaks them.

I’m not saying that this land is any more ours than it is yours; what I am saying is that we’re either Americans – one united people – or we are split between believing in what is right to the point of acquiescing and giving it away to the Muslim hordes that are invading our country. This is not a subject for discussion: one can have “no opinion,” just as one can have “no opinion” by continually supporting the NFL by watching the games: one either stands tall with our flag (and boycotting the NFL), or one doesn’t stand at all.

Hear me, for I have spoken.
