“YOU ARE STILL A PRISONER”

(Aug. 29, 2015) — “Pops added, “you know, they say if you don’t vote, you get the government you deserve.”  “And if you do, you never get the results you expected,” Katherine replied.” ~E. A. Bucchianeri, Brushstrokes of a Gadfly

For the better part of two decades I have been puzzled and frustrated as I watch people go about increasing their mad addiction to the source of most of their problems: government. Over that period of time I have watched as our government has become more and more tyrannical and unconstitutional and marveled that a great majority of people see the cure for that problem to be liberal doses of more of that same government, simply packaged with a different label or championed by a different psychopath. It appears the old “hair of the dog that bit you” cure for an alcohol or drug induced hangover has been ideologically embraced as it pertains to government and its constant ailments.

For the past seven years I have received a seemingly endless stream of emails complaining about our current president and his unconstitutional and in many cases immoral acts. Considering the political landscape of modern day America, the vast majority of those critical emails have originated with people of the opposing political party to the current incumbent of the office of president.

While I am in agreement that the current “leader of the free world” would not recognize the Constitution or Bill of Rights if they were served for dinner and has systematically and methodically worked to destroy the Republic we were intended to have, I have come to the stark realization that most of those who criticize unconstitutional acts by the opposing political party have no trouble embracing similar unconstitutional acts as long as the perpetrator belongs to their chosen party.

What would be the reaction of folks in the opposing  political party if Obama were to declare martial law in the 27 states that are legally challenging Obamacare using nullification or state interposition as guaranteed in the 10th Amendment; move the military in to illegally arrest and detain the duly elected legislators of those states and at least one Mayor of a major city; close down the newspapers in those states who disagreed with him; issue an arrest warrant for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court if he ruled the acts of Obama to be unconstitutional; deport a member of Congress who openly challenged him; imprison thousands of dissenters throughout those states and order the other 23 states to call out their National Guard and Reserve forces to invade those states who were in “rebellion” to the unconstitutional wishes and acts of Obama?

Is there really an ideological difference in the opposition to Obamacare by those 27 states and the opposition to the Morrill Tariff by the Southern states in 1861?

What if Obama prosecuted a war killing hundreds of thousands and spent untold amounts of borrowed money in order to enforce his will? What if after the war was over, those 27 states were placed under military rule and martial law? What if that total subjugation to government authority lasted for 10-12 years, and all private property was seized or sold to opportunists who migrated into those states from the 23 states that supported Obama?

What if the government built an Athenian monument to Obama in the country’s Capitol? What if it was later stated that Obama had to destroy the Constitution in order to preserve it? What if his likeness was put on the five-dollar bill and the penny? What if members of his political party referred to themselves as the “Party of Obama” and observed annual “Obama Day Dinners?”

Before the sanctimonious among us begin their justification of the killing of hundreds of thousands, the expenditure of untold amounts of our national treasure we did not have and the imposition of that debt on our posterity in defense of the “Great Emancipator,” please remember the size of the cell has no correlation to the status of the prisoner held within that cell. If you are in a 9×12 cell or are exercising in the fenced in yard—you are still a prisoner/slave.

Section I of the 13th Amendment reads as follows:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Remember, if you must pay for Obamacare “against your will” or are faced with “coercion” or fear of government “force” if you refuse, this meets the very definition of “involuntary servitude” which is expressly forbidden by the 13th Amendment.

Members of the “Party of Lincoln” need to take a long hard look in the historical mirror before they rant, rave and flood the internet with forwards about the unconstitutional and tyrannical acts of others.

  1. Two wrongs don’t make a right – never have, never will. The fact that “Honest Abe” may have acted less than honestly does in no way justify the present tyrannical abuse stemming from the White House. Is it politically correct to call it the “White” House? Or is that freedom of speech now also gone down the proverbial drain? Republicans and Democrats are feathers on the same bird, and I don’t mean the American Eagle.
