“THE RIGHT AND THE DUTY”

by New York State Grassroots Groups

Gov. Andrew Cuomo hastily signed the “SAFE Act” in January 2013 after skipping the customary public comment period for pending new legislation

(Mar. 2, 2015) — On this eve of a major lobby effort in Albany, the email seen below has been sent to every NY legislator. [Please read the letter – it has great info]. The entire list of legislators’ email addresses appears below this message in the hope that you will send a message similar to this one – today, tomorrow or any day. AND, you might consider delivering a hard copy directly to any or all legislators personally.

On March 3rd many activists representing many causes will gather in the Legislative Office Building in Albany. Groups and individuals will visit every legislator’s office and deliver messages of praise (in a few cases), dissatisfaction and recommendations. The gathering begins at 9am in the LOB concourse. Every person has the right – and in OUR opinion, the duty – to lobby or visit with every legislator in the state. If you wish to participate just show up. The process is simple – the list of offices is easily found – take the elevator to the floor you want and walk in any office. Talk to the staff and leave your message – sign the registry (if you so desire – recommended) and move on to the next. It is very likely you will see us there – we can help you if requested.

ALSO: a floor-by-floor listing of legislators is included below.

Please Keep Pushing – WE CAN WIN

Subject: Memo: Political Suicide
From TEAM NY: March 2, 2015  Reply requested:

To all members of the New York Legislature:
[Please read and reply to questions below]

As we all know; Cuomo is an arrogant tyrant. He is mean, vicious and bullies the NY Legislation into submission. His current budget treats legislators like children begging for candy. He undermines the dignity and integrity of all elected legislators. His agenda is neither good for New York nor supportive of any legislator’s district needs. It continues the shrinking of the tax base, burdens constituents with nonsensical regulations and restrictions and does nothing good for our economic climate. What is good for New York is to stand up to Cuomo – defeat his budget and enact one written by the legislature. Cuomo has committed political suicide – his career is finished. Are YOU going down with the ship?

Same Theme – Different Issue

Opposing FULL Repeal of the Safe Act Is Political Suicide

·        28 NY Legislators were not reelected in 2014.

·        Some did not run for reelection

·        21 of the legislators that were NOT reelected voted for the Safe Act.
It isn’t difficult to admit a mistake and repent. It’s not only good for the soul; it wins friends and influences people.
Facts you may have seen or heard so amazing they bear repeating:
·        Public perception has vastly changed since the passing of the SAFE Act.
·        Terror and violent criminal action being rampant makes unrestricted means of self-defense absolutely imperative.
·       Those most responsible for the passing of the Safe Act [Libous/Silver/Skelos] are all under corruption investigation or already indicted for crimes.
·       Preet Bharara has as many as 200 open investigations, and the vast majority of those under investigation voted “yes” for the Safe Act.
·        At Least 35 of the legislators that voted yes on the Safe Act have since proclaimed regrets for their vote.
·        Resolutions against the Safe Act have been enacted in 54 out of 62 counties.
·        375 town boards have passed resolutions against the Safe Act.
·        PLUS it would be political suicide to vote against FULL Repeal of the Safe Act……
Questions and Request for Answers:
1.      Will you cosponsor and/or support Senate bill S1193-2015 and/or Assembly bill A03943 and A03350?
2.      Will you vote for FULL Repeal of the Safe Act?
3.      Will you support a budget that contains FULL Repeal of the Safe Act?
4.      Will you support a budget that prohibits funding of any portion of the Safe Act?
5.      Will you stand against Cuomo’s tyranny?
This correspondence has been sent to you by a coalition of people from every district in New York State.
