by New York State Grassroots Groups

(Feb. 24, 2015) — Please spread the word; see Senator Diaz’s letter below – Libous and Skelos should get a copy of this one.

Stoke The Fire – it is now burning bright – Do NOT Quit – Do NOT Back Down – Please Keep PUSHING

OUR cards, letters, calls and tweets are having a great effect! WE are also beginning to hear rumblings from the media. Many thousands of contacts to Senators and Assemblymen have been made – thanks – but we need many thousands more. FULL Repeal of the Safe Act MUST become Priority #1 – We MUST defeat tyranny and terror – ALL citizens MUST have the Right to Self-Defense. We must NOT fear criminals – We MUST make them fear US.

Please keep contacting any and ALL elected officials – local, county and state. YOUR voice WILL put fear in them for their wrongful actions. I’m fed up with their shenanigans – aren’t YOU?

One more thing: please click the link and have SCOPE send a message on your behalf: [quick and easy – free, too]

State Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz
32nd Senatorial District
188 State Street LOB Room 606, (518) 455-2511 (718) 991-3161 diaz@senate.state.ny.us

Dear Senator, I write to you today in hopes that you may be able to see the error in the ways of Albany. I appeal to you as a decent, caring and fair man of integrity and ability to clearly think and correct misguided and wrongful action.

I am speaking in regards to the Safe Act: You voted for the Safe Act. We realize that you authored parts of that bill and that your reasoning, at the time, seemed like the right thing to do. Since the passing of the Safe Act it has become extremely clear that, not only the illegal passage and illegal restrictions were wrongful but, the Safe Act is also harmful to those who you may have intended to protect. It truly does put the law abiding decent people deeper in harm’s way.

Your focus seems to be on racial and minority issues. The Safe Act can be seen as racist. It is racist because it makes the defense of loved ones most difficult and expansive for Blacks and Hispanics. Legally owning the proper means of self-defense in those communities by law abiding citizens is now virtually impossible. They can NOT defend against criminals under the terms of the Safe Act. The “defenders” are now turned into criminals by not complying with the Safe Act. The downward spiral deepens in those communities you try to help by imposing defense restrictions.

There is overwhelming proof that the majority of violent crime occurs in the Black, Hispanic and minority communities. The overwhelming proof also shows that as much as 90% of that violent crime comes from geographic areas with restrictions like those contained in the Safe Act. The Safe Act emboldens criminals and makes all others fearful and extremely vulnerable. We believe that the following sign would deter violence in all communities: “Attention Criminals – Citizens Do Have Guns. Yes, signs like that would prevent more violence than 100 laws like the Safe Act. Can YOU see how that would deter the cowardly criminals? Can YOU see how it would make all comers think twice before being rude, crude, aggressive and violent? It is commonsense that if someone “thinks” you may have a weapon to defend yourself and your loved ones it is far less likely they would violate your space.

Senator Diaz, Violence remains rampant and gets more so with the passing of more restrictive laws – it is way past the time to try something new. TRUST the ones you love in the communities you so avidly try to improve – give them respect – give the law abiding a boost – give them your blessing – let them know they are smart enough to hold weapons and use them correctly – embolden the law abiding against the criminals.

Senator Diaz, We respectfully request that you cosponsor S1193-2015, lobby ALL legislators, work hard to insure it gets to the floor and please vote for FULL Repeal of the Safe Act.

We eagerly await your reply.

Thank You
Al Belardinelli
