(Jan. 26, 2015) — We continue to struggle with our efforts to save VDA…. and from reader emails, it seems we are struggling to save VDA for three reasons….
First, several wrote and asked “How do we JOIN, or How do we RENEW?”
All of our emails include one click buttons like the two above for that purpose.
Second, because we made our secure online communication system SO SECURE for VDA, the system has never been an effective way for members to communicate with each other behind the firewall. Access is just too complicated. We want to fix this, but it takes resources and we have to make fixing it a priority. If we save VDA, we will fix it….
But most of all, because most of what we do is not done in the open for fame or fanfare, many of our members and donors who are not directly engaged on a daily basis don’t know all that we do or why we do it!
Those of us who work around the clock every day for Veterans, Soldiers and their Families, know exactly what we do, how critical it is that we keep doing it, and why….
But even our families, frustrated by our extended absence, sometimes fail to understand. That changed for my family this weekend, when I took my wife and kids to see American Sniper, a film that every American should see right away!
EVERY SHOWING was SOLD OUT in advance in our local theaters, playing on multiple screens. During the movie, the audience was completely spellbound, you could hear a pin drop throughout…… every person was captured by the film….
When the film ended, the silence of the crowd was deafening! Nobody spoke a word….as they silently and patiently stood up and calmly left the theater, many of them in tears… I have never seen anything like it, and neither had my wife and kids….
No one said a word all the way to the truck…. and then, in tears, my wife and teenage kids said to me….. “We are sorry for ever complaining….now we understand why you do what you do all day, all night, every day! THANK YOU!”
TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO SEE AMERICAN SNIPER! Take your liberal neighbors and family members with you! Make them understand!
We are currently engaged in many Military cases involving wrongful death and wrongful incarceration due to suicidal Government issued ROE. Men are dead, their families want answers, and they deserve answers.
24 hours before I took my family to see American Sniper, I received a phone call from a father of a young soldier recently convicted of “murder” for doing his job on the battlefield in Iraq. These four boys were cleared by Military investigation of any wrongdoing, in an enemy combatant incident that left 14 Iraqi’s dead, beside their car bomb and a puddle of AK shell casings… all aimed at our boys.
But the Obama Administration sent the FBI to do a civilian criminal investigation, weeks after the scene had been completely cleaned… and on the basis of Iraqi testimony alone, they convicted four of our boys of murder and manslaughter…. they await sentencing right now!
Within hours, we have pulled 4500 pages of evidence clearing the boys, in preparation for an appeal. I wanted to tell that father that we could get his son out of prison…. but instead, I could only tell him we would do all we can, with no real resources…..
We are still fighting to save VDA because it is worth saving! We are still fighting for our soldiers, their families and our veterans, because they are worth fighting for…. We are still fighting for America, because it is what we all took an oath to do!
