URGES AMERICANS TO “STAND FOR SOMETHING”

by Dan Bongino, ©2014

Dan Bongino ran for Congress in 2014 and lost narrowly to incumbent John Delaney.  He is a former Secret Service agent and NYPD detective

(Nov. 23, 2014) — Are WE really winning? Yesterday, on the radio show, I asked this question. Although the Republican Party performed well in the last election, are WE really winning? It appears that, regardless of the results of recent elections, the march towards a more powerful and expansive government continues, albeit just a bit slower with others in charge.

So, what can we do? First, although the new members of the House and Senate will not be sworn in until January, we must let them know now that we will be watching. Nearly every decision they make will profoundly impact many of our lives and this is not a game. In baseball we give young players a chance to have a few bad games and develop in the process. There’s no time for that here.

When members of Congress and the Senate have a “bad day”, we all have a bad day. And, although every human being should be treated with dignity and respect, we should never treat politicians as political celebrities, as you will find nothing but a Golden Calf.

I just lost my election, and it still stings. But this is no excuse to sit back and relax. There is honor in the fight and the result is not in your hands. If the result is a bigger government tomorrow and the best you can do is fight back today, then you have done what you were put here to do; to stand for something. Don’t let the chance to make a positive impact today slip away.

I respect Mr. Bongino. Telling the new-comers they’ll be watched may or may not do any good. Boehner and McConnell know we’re watching them. Fat lot of good that does.
