(Sep. 13, 2014) — On Saturday, pro-life groups across the country will gather at the gravesites of children whose lives were taken by abortion.

The National Day of Remembrance has now been set for the second Saturday in September each year. Forty-five locations where mourners are gathering are found in virtually every state and bear names such as “Tomb of the Unborn,” “Memorial to the Unborn,” and “God’s Precious Little Ones.”

Other memorials are located on the grounds of churches.  Some events consist of a Catholic Mass or a mass and additional service.

Abortion has been “legal” in the United States since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Texas law which forbade it in the landmark case of Roe v. Wade.  Since that time, an estimated 57,000,000 unborn children have been extricated from their mothers’ wombs and killed in a nation founded upon “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The Rev. Patrick Mahoney, who played a significant part in the freeing of Connecticut teenager Justina Pelletier from the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families in June, is issuing frequent tweets on the afternoon’s events.

Earlier on Saturday, LifeNews posted a timeline of the development of a child from its conception to eight months in utero.

The City of Milwaukee, WI has been holding an annual vigil for unborn children for the past 26 years.

North Dakota, which arguably has the strictest laws against abortion, bans the practice based on a discovered genetic “defect” of the unborn child.

The mainstream media appears to have provided no coverage of Saturday’s events.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. EDT, Mahoney tweeted a photo of a young woman leaving a bouquet of red roses at the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court “to honor the children who have been aborted in America!”

On October 15, those who have lost a child by miscarriage, infant death, or other complications mourn their losses.

Abortion has also been reported to bear medical risks to the mother.

LifeNews suggests 19 steps Americans can take to support life.  The Thomas More Law Center supports “sidewalk counselors” who speak to women entering abortion clinics about other options.

Several hashtags supporting life include #PraytoEndAbortion, #RemembertheAborted, and #ProLife.

God also remembers and will judge America severely for each and every one of the 57 million precious little ones.
