IS POLITICS IN HIS FUTURE?

(Feb. 27, 2013) — The chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Dr. Benjamin Carson, has been announced as a guest speaker at the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) annual conference to be held on March 14-16.
CPAC has featured such guests as Ann Coulter, Allen West, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Marco Rubio and the late Andrew Breitbart. The annual conference is sponsored by the American Conservative Union (ACU).
Carson made major headlines after speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast on February 7, during which he touched on taxes, Scripture, and indirectly, on health care. Carson told The Washington Times that the White House asked him for an advance transcript of his remarks “more than once” but that he declined to supply one.
Carson was introduced by Sen. Jeff Sessions as someone who could “help solve some problems,” and Carson stated that he was “honored” to be there. Standing only feet from where the Obamas were seated, he began his speech by quoting Scripture. Later on, he said that all children should be given “a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account.”
Having stated at the outset that he did not wish to offend anyone, Carson decried “the PC police” and an over-sensitivity which he said “keeps people from saying what they really believe.”
Following the prayer breakfast, Carson appeared on Fox News‘s “Hannity” to discuss solutions to America’s challenges, during which he also answered questions about his political and social philosophy. He also appeared on ABC News‘s “This Week.”
Fox News contributor Cal Thomas opined that Carson owed Obama “an apology” because his remarks at what was expected to be a meditative, spiritual affair were politically-charged.
Dr. Keith Ablow, a Fox News medical contributor who trained with Carson, said of his remarks:
Dr. Ben Carson doesn’t need to apologize to President Obama. The surgeon enunciated a treatment plan that could save the life of this nation…The surgeon made his diagnosis. He enunciated a treatment plan that could save the life of this nation. And anyone who argues that he should have held his tongue out of “respect” doesn’t understand that telling the truth to a man, however powerful, is still the ultimate form of respect.
Carson and his brother were raised in the 1950s by a single mother with a third-grade education who insisted that her boys read books and limit their exposure to television. Carson had studied psychology at Yale University but decided to pursue medicine at the University of Michigan. He became a Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, from which he plans to retire in June.
After speaking at the prayer breakfast, speculation and enthusiasm for a presidential run for Carson appeared at the Wall Street Journal.
Carson is the author, co-author and subject of numerous books available at Amazon.com. He and his wife have established a scholarship fund called “The Carson Scholars” which encourages and rewards academic achievement in schoolchildren.
In 26 minutes the man gave solutions to some of the greatest needs in this country. He gave them in good humored, easy to understand words, without using class warfare, or promoting dependentcy.
Personally, I am praying that God will lead him to run for office. Why not run for president? He has more experience, a vision for uniting us instead of dividing us, and the humility to know that he doesn’t know everything. I would vote for him in a heartbeat!
Here is an intelligent,educated, african american gentleman,that has social intelligece and is capable of realizing the needs of others. Our current spoiled usurper street hood bari shabazz could never stand next to carson nor ever have.the organizational skills that carson is capable of and carson also poseses a legal social security number!
