AUGUST 4 CHICAGO BIRTHDAY BASH A NO-SHOW

by Sharon Rondeau

How long has Obama been skeet-shooting? How long has his name been “Barack Obama?”

(Feb. 3, 2013) — Last July, the Obama campaign had announced an all-expenses-paid trip for a couple to fly to Chicago to celebrate his alleged birthday on August 4.  At the time, veteran White House reporter Keith Koffler reported:

The Obama campaign is raffling off to contributors an invitation to President Obama’s 51st birthday party, which will be held at the Obama family home in Chicago…

Barack’s birthday is one of the last opportunities he’ll get for a little downtime before the final weeks of the election.

While Koffler notes that Michelle Obama’s message does not definitively state that the party would be held on August 4, ABC News reported that it would be held on that date, attributing the information to Joe Biden.  ABC wrote:

The president is planning a backyard party on August 4, according to Vice President Joe Biden. He wrote, “Take it from me. You’ll have fun at this one.”

A campaign advertisement featuring Michelle Obama strongly suggested that the birthday party in Chicago would be held on Obama’s reported birthday.

So what happened to cause Obama to allegedly spend his birthday skeet-shooting at Camp David?

As The Post & Email reported, news articles appeared to have been hastily changed when it became apparent that Obama did not go to Chicago for his birthday last year as ABC News and others had reported he would.

A link to a reference to Obama’s having “played golf” at Camp David on August 4 no longer works.

However, as early as July 17, one outlet reported that Obama would not be traveling to Chicago for his birthday, but rather, that “The newly announced birthday party fundraiser at his Chicago home will be on August 12, the campaign’s Rufus Gifford said today in an e-mail with the subject heading “SO COOL.” First Lady Michelle Obama announced the ‘Barack’s Birthday’ sweepstakes on Monday, but did not specify the date.”

Then why were ABC News and Koffler told that it would be on August 4?

On August 3, 3012, The New York Times reported that Obama’s birthday party would actually be a “backyard” fundraiser held on August 12, with the last paragraph of the article stating:

Also — and the campaign does not play up this bit of fine print — charging money to enter contests is illegal. So the legions of contestants who reached into their own pockets may not know it, but they could have entered free.

However, people were solicited for $3.00 donations to attend.  Did those donors receive a refund from the campaign?

A link in the last paragraph of The Post & Email’s August 4, 2012 report referring to an Associated Press article is no longer functional.

On August 4, the GOP was aware that Obama was not having a birthday party that day.

On February 2, a photo purportedly of Obama shooting “skeets” at Camp David on his alleged birthday, August 4, 2012, was reportedly released by the White House and credited to official White House photographer Pete Souza.  The release comes after Obama allegedly provided an interview to two reporters from The New Republic entitled “Barack Obama is not Pleased,” one of whom worked on Obama’s 2008 campaign and was reported to have donated to him after that.

The New York Daily News reported that Obama was golfing last August 4.  It did not report anything about skeet-shooting.  Perhaps Obama did both that hot summer weekend, changing clothes between activities.

Obama has aggressively pursued restrictions on firearms purchases since the deadly shooting of 20 children and six adults on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, CT.  While at times he has claimed to support the Second Amendment and Americans’ right to own firearms, other statements from his past revealed an advocacy for tight gun control.  Prior to the attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School, Obama stated that most crimes committed by people with guns in his “home town” of Chicago involved “cheap hand guns,” not “AK-47s.”

The people of Newtown are now calling for armed police at the town’s four schools.

Glenn Kessler of The Washington Post, who reported that the school the Obama daughters attend does not utilize armed guards, contended on January 31 that without past references to Obama’s skeet-shooting at Camp David, “In these suspicious times, they [citizens] would like to see some evidence.   But the White House has been oddly silent about the matter.”

Kessler asked the White House for the name of someone who could confirm that Obama was a skeet-shooter but received no response after three inquiries.

Like many in the mainstream media, The Washington Post has typically been friendly to Obama and refrained from asking questions whose answers would speak to his veracity.

Since Sandy Hook, Obama believes that protecting “individual freedoms” requires “collective action.”  He was known to oppose firearms ownership while a member of the Illinois State Senate.

Whether or not Obama’s birthday is actually August 4 is an open question.  Several sources have reported that federal indictments have been issued against Obama.  A law enforcement investigation in Maricopa County, AZ found that Obama’s Selective Service registration form and long-form birth certificate are “computer-generated forgeries.”  The lead investigator, Michael Zullo, has expressed doubt that Obama’s birthday is August 4, 1961.

On January 25, A three-judge panel in the U.S. District Court in Washington, DC ruled that Obama violated the U.S. Constitution’s provision which allows recess appointments without the consent of the Senate by appointing four people to boards when the Senate was still officially in session.

The New York Times is now expressing “suspicion” about Obama’s claim to skeet-shooting.  Obama has been known to contradict himself, particularly on the specifics of his life story.
