“Native Born Citizen” Responds to The Post & Email’s Plagiarism Complaint

“SHARON HAS DONE A FORMIDABLE JOB”

by Sharon Rondeau

(Dec. 13, 2012) — On Wednesday, The Post & Email published an article demonstrating that a considerable amount of our original work had been reproduced without attribution or a link back to our work at the pro-Obama website www.nativeborncitizen.wordpress.com. We invited the owner(s) of the website to contact us regarding the problem, as we had filed a complaint with the site’s host, WordPress, in September, asking the site owner to remove the posts lacking attribution.

This evening The Post & Email received the following email from the purported website operator:

From: Natural Born Citizen <nativeborncitizens@gmail.com>
Subject: Your article

Message Body:

I became aware of your article this morning. Since I appreciate your position, although I disagree with your conclusions, I have removed any further postings which contained the terms Rondeau, Sharon, P&E and “Post and Email”. I will continue to search for additional references.

I have commented on all of this on my site. If you believe that I have missed any postings which cause you concern, please leave a comment on my site and I will abide by your wishes.

Please accept my apologies for any concerns my words may have caused you. I applaud your work and effort in exposing what you believe to be injustice in our system, and Walt has found a strong advocate in you. While I often do not agree with you or Walt, I do respect your position and you as a person and wish no discomfort on you.

The posting on Native Born Citizen in response to our article is here.

We responded to the email as follows:

I appreciate your response to my complaint.  I have read your posting and disagree that the matter is about “feelings.”  Rather, it is about reproducing another’s work without attribution or permission.  I also object to the libel you have systematically used to defame my reputation which is an actionable offense, as you must know.

I pursue others who repost The Post & Email’s work without permission, attribution or the required remuneration.

I will search your site and let you know if I find any further articles without attribution.  In the past, I had left one comment to that effect, and when I tried a second time, your site bounced me to another screen and would not allow the comment to go to moderation.

What is your real name, and why do you not use it?  It is easy to hide in the world of cyber space.

to which we received the following response:

Yes, I received your first comment and cleaned my site as thorough as I could. When I received email from WordPress, specifically identifying four or five postings as being in violation of the DMCA, I removed all those and did another scrubbing to avoid further discomfort.

The weird thing is that in my scrubbing I ran across a whole category of postings which I had decided to remove such as Darren Huff, who I felt had become a victim of the system and that posting his legal documents served no good purpose. I have this fear that I bulk posted my drafts.
Still, I understand your position and will abide by your wishes.
I do admire your work, even though I disagree with it strongly and it concerns me that this has caused you much concern to you.
As to you being unable to comment on my site, I find that disturbing as well so let me look into that. I checked and your name is not in any lists that would prevent you from commenting.
I take your comments and objections very seriously. Again, I deeply apologize for anything that I may have said or done, or not said or not done that caused you concern, discomfort, anger, or pain.

The blog owner states that he will be taking a “well deserved vacation” “for the next few weeks.”  Barack Obama is also scheduled to be on vacation for roughly the same time frame.

A third response was then received:

And not because I did not consider it relevant but because I read over your response too quickly (a bad habit of mine):

I do take your statement of libel very seriously as there is NO intention on my part to engage in such behavior and I do apologize if you interpreted anything I said or have written as such. My goal is not to cause pain or impugn your reputation but rather to inform, discuss and comment.
As I said, I do appreciate your efforts to raise awareness for the plight of many, the corruption in Tennessee, and my comment were not meant to trivialize such as much as to express my disagreement with your publicly stated positions or claims on issues that were near and dear to my interests.
I wish you all the best and please please please, let me know if there is anything else I can do.
I hope you do not mind that I wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2013.
PS: I will be on vacation starting soon so please do not interpet my lack of immediate response as a disinterest or disregard or disrespect.

    Dear Editor,
    Hold the horses!
“what you believe to be an injustice to our system”?
You mean, there’s a BELIEF SYSTEM in place that believes in fakery, in lies, in falsehoods, in deceptions? That’s really ripe. Reminds me of Whoopi Goldberg saying she makes her political decisions upon “feelings” rather than the facts.
Why don’t we each crown ourselves Kings and Queens and forget about all this political hogwash?
Let’s see if I’ve got this right. Native Born Citizen views a reality that is separate from what others consider to be the Truth, or, to state it another way, believing in an exhibit (the TWO Birth Certificates put forward as a, “Oh well, if I have to”) that has been proven to be a forgery (and therefore a fake, made-up, not real, not valid, of having no meaning or worth) takes precedence over no such object at all; in other words, a fake document is believable over no document.
So, if we are to accept Native Born Citizen’s logic, then lies are Truth, and the Truth has no place in the world of the Native Born Citizen.
Call the men in the white coats.
    Sincerely,
    OPOVV
