CAN THE U.S. AGAIN BECOME A “JEWEL” AMONG NATIONS?

by One Pissed-off Vietnam Vet

The Ten Commandments are still on display outside of the Texas State Capitol. Is America still rooted in Judeo-Christian values?

(Feb. 28, 2012) — Each of us has a stake in the economic health of our country.  We also have a stake in other types of wealth, such as the value of our word; the esteem in which we hold others, and they u;, and our freedom to be heard. The painting by Norman Rockwell of the farmer standing to say his piece at a City Hall meeting comes to mind. There used to be a time when the mindset of the general population was on the same wavelength, exemplified by the massive enlistment on December 8, 1941. Due to a core belief system made up of the teachings of the Ten Commandments and of the Constitution, memorization of the Gettysburg Address, and the high percentage of a literate population whose reading materials consisted of authors who were, likewise, steeped in reporting the human condition truthfully, the United States was the jewel of the countries on earth to not only talk the talk of Liberty but walk the walk, as demonstrated by giving back all of the possessions (land = countries) conquered during World War II.

Like most, if not all, titles of government agencies in the US government, the names can be seriously misleading to the point of an outright lie. “Transparent Administration,” “Federal Bureau of Investigation,” and “Department of Education” are just three examples of opposites. We have a de facto president, we have Saudi schools teaching Wahhabi beliefs and Islamvilles within our borders, and an education system that has resulted in elected officials being as shallow as those who have elected them, as demonstrated by the high percentage of those who are reelected. Garbage in, garbage out.

During World War II, there was a monastery, Monte Casino, located on a hilltop between the Allies and the Germans. The Allies thought that the Germans were using the monastery as an observation post, in clear violation of the Rules of Engagement, so they bombed the historic landmark to smithereens, and only then did the Germans actually use the hilltop for observation purposes. Ironic, is it not, that the destruction of the monastery caused what the Allies were trying to avoid? During the Vietnam debacle, the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) reminds one of the ROE’s (Rules of Engagement) facing our troops today: taking fire from a mosque but forbidden to return fire. And here’s the point: it is wise to learn from past mistakes, but what if your enemy has no rules, just an objective?  What then?

Anticipating reversal of expectations is the mark of a great commander who has already planned for the possible “planned retreat” so as to minimize negative results. Actually, many a battle has been won by faking a retreat by luring the enemy into a well-disguised ambush. Throughout history there have been many memorable wars and battles, but the wars that are the most devious are those that are fought not by the sword, but by the pen. We find ourselves in the midst of such a war today. The weapons used against us are our words and our laws that we expect to be honored. Words such as “religion” and laws such as the First Amendment are turned and twisted so as to do us harm. We allow such transgressions because  many of us don’t have the intellectual training to see the obvious, to recognize a shell game when it’s being played right in front of us.

Today’s war isn’t against the “who” as much as it is the “what.”  Obviously, the enemy has to have foot soldiers, but these front-line troops wear no uniform, may or may not wear beards, may or may not even be Muslim; they just may be brainwashed and/or brain-dead Americans: college students and media commentators come to mind, and judges who have ruled in Obama’s favor about the eligibility issue. The root enemy is Islam, a government and the religious aspect of a country rolled into one. Muslims and Americans support the wrong belief that Islam is only a religion and, therefore, accorded all rights and privileges, such as tax breaks. Make no mistake about it:  the enemy is Islam and those who support it, such as members of Congress who continue to turn a blind eye to the millions of Muslim immigrants, legal or otherwise, such as Obama, into our country. I’ll say it again: THE ENEMY IS ISLAM.

We fund government entities but are less safe today than ten years ago, as long as we don’t definitively expose (name) our enemy. We pay a premium price for mediocre services from our government. Our cost has risen while the return on our investment (America and the Constitution), by way of taxes, slaps us in the face: Ground Zero Mosque, get real, for one example. Same with all Muslims: deport them, one and all.
