WHERE IS AMERICA’S MORAL COMPASS TODAY?

by Daniel Roach

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president during the Second World War and enacted the "New Deal" to pull the nation out of the Great Depression. Is there a "new deal" for America today?

(Sep. 9, 2011) — What can be done to revive a rapidly declining economy in our nation? How about “Infrastructure” projects? More tax breaks? Maybe curbing the government deficit? Massive stimulus spending didn’t work out so well, nor did quantitative easing.  Personally, I believe our ruling political class to be in denial when it comes to identifying the one single factor which will lessen, if not entirely negate, just about anything they will try.

FDR once said, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”  Having pinpointed the problem, President Roosevelt took some rather radical, bold steps to allay the public fear, and instituted some programs that seemed to reverse the economic turmoil that savaged the country during his terms.  Can we not do the same things and expect the same results?  The answer to that is an emphatic NO!

The fear that gripped America in FDR’s era was a fear provoked by an unforeseen and cataclysmic collapse of an apparently solid economy. Today’s America saw our “recession” coming well before we found ourselves in our present state.  To be sure, there is a certain measure of fear, but not the panic that saw ruined millionaires leaping from tall buildings like a spring shower.  It is the cause of our fear that defeats every “Grand Bargain” plan devised by our ruling class. It is the nature of our fear that changes every proposed solution into a miserable failure, each one driving that fear deeper into the social fabric of this one-time glorious nation.

Our fear has its beginnings in the years, no, the decades leading up to this present disaster.  Our fear began to grow when we lost faith in those we trusted to represent us in Congress, in the White House, and in the Courts. We fear because we have created a class of politicians who have no moral compass, who justify their inability to control their human frailties by invented distinctions such as “What he/she does in his/her private life has no connection to his professional accomplishments,” politicians for whom nothing is sacred. Those who should be throwing light on our morally bankrupt politicians, the “mainstream media,” who never fail to find erudite “talking heads,” who cover over our righteous feelings of guilt by assuring us that, “All ‘aggressive’ personality types have difficulty controlling their ‘primal urges’.” have betrayed us.  There is a great deal of difference between ‘difficulty of control’ and ‘unqualified surrender’.  We are represented in the world by Presidents for whom the marriage vow means nothing, presidents who bring their lack of morality into the Oval Office with women of base morals. Is it any great marvel that men of such low character have appointed homosexual judges who make their legal decisions agree with their unnatural and depraved sexual lusts? Is there a single elected politician in our government of whom the majority of Americans can honestly say, “I trust this person?”

A CNN/Opinion Research poll taken in August 2011 showed that 25% of ALL Americans doubt that the current putative president, Barack Obama, is even a citizen of the United States!  In the same poll it was discovered that 11% firmly believe that Obama WAS NOT BORN IN THE UNITED STATES!  Even if it were proven beyond any doubt that Obama is qualified to hold the office of president, the fact that he is hiding, fighting to keep hidden, all aspects of his history, his schooling, his financial dealings, his passport history, and even his preschool records, removes any possibility of inspiring whatever trust America might wish to place in him.  Equally provocative is his complete ignorance of the American Spirit, demonstrated by the satisfaction he seems to derive from bowing to foreign monarchs and generally humbling this great nation, apologizing for imagined or invented wrongs which only he seems to believe America has committed.  No president has ever humiliated this nation and eroded the respect even our enemies had for the United States and undermined the confidence our allies placed in her to the point that a large portion of the dangers currently threatening the peace and order of the entire world, particularly in the Middle East, can be laid to Obama’s cultural ignorance.

On December 7, 1941, Japan executed a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor Naval Base and killed over two thousand American servicemen.  Admiral Yamamoto, the Japanese officer who planned and executed that attack, upon being congratulated for its success, remarked, “I fear we have only awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.” On September 11, 2001, an attack was made on the American mainland, killing over three thousand civilians, and soon after the election of Obama, a group connected with those who planned, financed, and executed this massacre has his support to build a pagan mosque commemorating the event!  What happened to the “awakened giant?”  Where is the “terrible resolve?” What has happened to the “heart” of America? When this nation began to excuse the decadency rampant in its government, to turn a blind eye to overt crimes, tax evasion, bribery, and sale of influence openly put on display by today’s class of politicians, when America decided to ignore the filth and scum gravitating towards Washington, more than the economy began a downhill slide. “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” Bible, Romans Chapter 1.

Nothing can guarantee that this economy will recover until we have elected representatives we can trust. If America did not constantly fear betrayal by her own government, and yes, that is the nature of the fear we live under; if she had just one leader she could believe was honest, even bad solutions would work in her favor because all industry and every citizen would do their utmost to MAKE it work. When America has elected leaders whose burning desire is to do the RIGHT thing instead of eternally positioning themselves for re-election and personal advantage, when America’s citizenry stops accepting moral degeneracy as normal both in her leaders and in herself, when she no longer makes excuses or tries to rationalize moral turpitude and licentious behavior in her elected representatives, the great majority of her internal difficulties, fears, and ubiquitous confusion will fade away.
