(Dec. 14, 2009)—December 16 is the anniversary of the 1773 Boston Tea Party, and a coalition of grassroots patriot organizations is preparing for that occasion by mounting a last-ditch effort on Tuesday, Dec. 15., to defeat government-run health care. They are taking the fight to Washington, D.C., in the form of a two-pronged attack: one onsite protest called the “Senate Emergency Call” and another called “Government Waiting Rooms.”

Hundreds of buses will be bringing in health-care protesters. The protest on Tuesday morning is  the one called “Government Waiting Rooms,” which may involve protesters falling down make-believe dead in government hallways to dramatize “the impact of rationing and long, long waiting lists that will occur when and if government takes over our healthcare.”

After lunch the protest will move to senators’ offices for a “Senate Emergency Call.” There will be a few speakers on hand, but the thrust of the protest will be to pay senators an office visit they cannot refuse without seeming unresponsive to their constituents’ concerns. Citizens who cannot be in D.C. will be making phone calls and sending faxes to their respective senators’ D.C. and local offices.

Coincidentally, a leadership gathering called National Liberty Unity Summit will be held in Washington, D.C. “National level leaders of nation-wide organizations and delegates sent by coalitions of grassroots groups will meet face-to-face for the initial 2 day summit on December 15-16 to form a working alliance.” These leaders will busy themselves “marshaling Constitutional Organizations across the nation in order to develop viable solutions to the difficult issues we face as Americans today.”  For more about this summit see our previous report.

To wrap up the protest, there will be Boston Tea Party Anniversary Candlelight Vigils at various sites across the nation on Dec. 16.

The question is, will the U.S. Senate get the message?
